Merry Christmas! (With poem!)

 From: Decently Exposed Shop

Hey guys! I just wanted to wish a very Merry Christmas, and I hope your holidays are going wonderfully! Oh and here's a little Christmas poem for you guys! I was going for kind of a "Twas the Night Before Christmas" feel to it (you know, that kind of hearty/homey voice?). And I don't usually do rhyming stuff, but I think Christmas just screams "poems that rhyme"! Anyways, hope you guys enjoy it!

(Here's an awesome playlist of the whole Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky!)

(Title of poem still undecided… if you guys got any suggestions don't hesitate on leaving a comment below!)

Stockings without a stuffer,
a tree but no manger.
Lights wrapped around the stairs,
but none out in the winter air.

What an artificial Christmas,
they deem, tone vicious.
You do not mess around,
with a celebration so renown.

Maybe there are no angels,
nor Jesus nor the wise faithfuls.
But no greater respect is paid,
as the gifts are laid.

What an artificial Christmas,
they still deem, tone still vicious.
You do not do justice,
to this celebration that is religious.

Well, strip down this occasion,
to its purest of connotation,
And what is left is the heart,
to cherish the good, to play your part.

Strip down this occasion,
to its simplest of connotation,
And what is left is the giving,
a better gift than the receiving.

For Christmas is a time, a season,
where for all it is different, the reason.
But when it has love and peace put into,
however you celebrate it, Christmas will remain true.

  2. Ah, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I became a little too addicted to Fire Emblem, so I wasn't able to see this >_< You write so beautifully, Grace, and you did indeed achieve that 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' feel :) Really, I'm a little jealous of how great your writing is, haha.

    1. Aw, thank you so much Lesley! But your writing is so beautiful too! And oh Lord, back when I didn't have a blog or a Goodreads, my writing definitely left a lot to be desired… it has improved considerably now!

Thanks for reading my post, and for commenting Lesley!

  3. This is super late but I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and New Year Grace! I like the originality and rhyme scheme of your poem - while I cannot think of a title that doesn't sound trite, I'm sure you'll come up with something worthy at some point. (:

    1. Thank you Thomas, I hope your holidays went well too! And yes, I do hope I can think of a title soon, but I actually don't mind it being untitled, haha!

Thanks for commenting and for reading my post, Thomas!

P.S. Yay, thanks for making me learn a new word! I can now use trite instead of words like cliché or unoriginal! (Sounds so much smarter too haha)
